The City of Webster’s Finance Department is accepting applications for the position of Accounting Technician I.  The position provides support to the Finance department and customers of the City.  The main functions of this position include cash collections for utility billing, permits, fines and fees, and other miscellaneous payments. This position will interface with the public regularly either in person or on the phone primarily answering questions related to utility billing. Some accounts payable is also required. Exceptional customer service will be a quality of the successful candidate. Reconciliations with the General Ledger are completed with many of the job responsibilities.  This position does not provide direction to other employees.


Beginning salary of $17.663 - $19.021 commensurate with experience, education, and training.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.  The City will determine the relatedness of the experience.
  • A High school Diploma or Equivalent.
  • A valid Texas driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain a Surety Bond.  (Please note:  A prior bankruptcy may prevent an individual from being eligible to obtain a bond.)
